About me and my practice
As your therapist I will engage with you as a person rather than a set of symptoms.
My aim is to help you to live your life fully, making changes or coming to terms with difficult dilemmas. I will offer you a safe and confidential place in to explore and understand your thoughts, ideas and feelings.
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which means that I can work with a wide set of therapies rather than a fixed approach.
This means that I will be able to tailor the therapy to your needs and discuss what works best for you. This open approach means that the relationship between client and therapist is as important as the therapy itself.
We are all faced with difficult struggles and emotions at time in our live, most we can work through but some leave us trapped and unable to see a way forward . Therapy is a place where you can unravel them and begin to make sense of them.
Finding a therapist can feel daunting and overwhelming especially if you are dealing with many pressures of daily life. I can offer you a safe place where you can explore and work through the challenges that you face; theses may encompass general daily life issues as well as more complex situations.
I have many specialisms so do check my website.
Experience
Whilst I was training at the CCPE and for 16 years I worked a a psychotherapist in a centre for alcohol and substance misuse.
This has helped me to understand dependency and the root of its causes. My belief is that addiction is an adoptive response to unwanted negative feelings and a search for a resolution and an escape from emotional injury. Whilst I was working there I also facilitated groups on sexual traumatic experiences, self harm and eating disorders.
Until very recently and for 8 years I also worked part time and co ordinated a project that specialised in working with domestic abuse and violence. This has led me to understand and work with domestic abuse in relationships. You may have experienced abuse or violence in the home as a child or as an adult and this may have affected part of your lives. My aim in the therapy would be to support and listen and to help shed some of that guilt and shame.
Since the lockdown and the lockdown I have been working extensively with anxiety and depression and have had very positive results with clients.

Additional Information
For me Psychodynamic psychotherapy is the nuts and bolts of the therapy, as it focusses on the unconscious and past experiences that can influence your current behaviour. I will encourage you to talk about your family of origin and your journey through life, in order to reveal unconscious patterns. This approach can be useful for looking at repeating patterns in relationships and making links between current behaviour and past events.
I chose to train at the CCPE which is a transpersonal training as at the time I was going through a life crisis and looking to deepen and understand who I was as a person. This approach emphasises the spiritual aspect of the human existence. The goal of this approach to therapy is the integration of the physical, emotional and mental aspects of the person. This includes the exploration and focus of the clients potential and the development of inner resources and creativity.
My training at IATE inspired me to work in a creative way.
